Click through from The Daily Dish, here. I haven't read any cellphone novels and don't plan to any time soon*, but what Bob Dooley writes about the Japanese language and literature jibes with my understanding.
* The translation example leaves me pretty cold, though short excerpts from quite entertaining novels can be pretty tiresome - can you imagine reading a random page from, say, The World According to Garp and really enjoying it?
